On April 20 2018, the assistant director and member of the Party Leadership Group of General Administration of Sport of China and CFA Secretary of the Party Committee Du Zhaocai met with AFC President Shaikh Salman in Jordan’s capital Amman before the playoff for third place of the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup contested by China and Thailand. The two leaders exchanged in-depth ideas about the developments of football in China and Asia.

Du congratulated the successful debut of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in west Asia, and briefed Salman on the achievements of the football reform in China. Du stated that China is facing a gold opportunity of developing its football thanks to the great support from the Chinese government , and the CFA had launched a series of measures for a bold reform. The CFA is willing to strengthen bilateral discussion and cooperation with the AFC and makes joint efforts to promote the development and progress of Asian football during the course.

Salman pointed out that the AFC has paid continuous attention to the developments of China’s football, which will in turn facilitate the development of Asian football. The AFC expects China to play a greater role in the international football community and it will keep supporting the work of the CFA.

The meeting saw the two sides discussing various football affairs, including national football team and youth training system building, professional football and business strategy. CFA Executive Committee Member Cai Yong and CFA International Exchange Department Director Luo Zhao also attended the meeting.
